Climate: Tropical.

Hurricane Maria, a category 4 with 155 mph winds, struck Puerto Rico causing 5,740 deaths. It was the worst natural disaster in the history of Puerto Rico. There 90 billion dollars in damages. Sixty-thousands lost their roofs. The catastrophe damaged bought about a major humanitarian crisis; took a year to restore electric power, and potable water; major wide spread corruption slowed relief process.

FEMA is spending more than $1 billion on emergency repairs to homes in Puerto Rico damaged by Hurricane Maria, but much of it is going to contractors charging steep markups and overhead.
